Our Commitment to Sustainability: Closed-Loop Water Recycling for Plating Operations

At K&L Plating Company, we are proud to lead the way in sustainable manufacturing by implementing cutting-edge closed-loop wastewater treatment technology to our Huntingdon location. Our innovative system not only recycles water used in our plating processes but also ensures that our operations have a minimal impact on the environment.

Water is a critical resource in the plating industry, and we recognize the importance of responsible water management. Our closed-loop system captures and purifies wastewater, transforming it into clean, reusable water that is reintegrated into our production process. By recycling up to 85% of the water used, we drastically reduce our need for fresh water and significantly decrease the amount of waste generated.

This commitment to water conservation is part of our broader dedication to environmental responsibility. Through sustainable practices like closed-loop water recycling, we’re not just complying with regulations—we’re going above and beyond to protect natural resources and minimize our environmental footprint.

Our efforts contribute to:

  • Water Conservation: Reducing water consumption and promoting the reuse of water, preserving this valuable resource for future generations.
  • Waste Reduction: Decreasing chemical waste and effluent discharge, ensuring a cleaner, greener environment.
  • Eco-Friendly Operations: Minimizing our impact on local ecosystems and ensuring our production processes are as sustainable as possible.
  • Commitment to Compliance: Exceeding environmental regulations while promoting ethical practices across the industry.

At K&L Plating Company, sustainability isn’t just a goal; it’s woven into the fabric of everything we do. We’re proud to offer a solution that not only enhances the efficiency of our plating operations but also contributes to a healthier planet.

Facts About Our Processes

We recycle approximately 85% of the water used in our rinse process, drastically reducing our need for fresh water.

We use deionized water, which extends the life of a plating solution, so we use less water overall.

We have rigorous standards in place to maximize water filtration before wastewater is sent to the local municipality.
RoHS compliance mark

RoHS & WEEE Compliant

We have adapted our systems to meet industry and environmental standards for reducing waste and use of hazardous materials. We can accommodate RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive) compliance for all of our processes. If you have another specification or unique request, our systems are flexible to meet your need.

Our Local Ecosystem

We have two locations: Lancaster, PA and Huntingdon, PA.

Lancaster
Our Lancaster shop is close to the Conestoga River. We are in the Susquehanna River Valley and part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Our service area also includes Philadelphia, which is part of the Delaware River ecosystem.

We are a member of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and received the “Business By the Bay” recognition from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for our efforts to reduce water runoff from our facilities.

Huntingdon
Our Huntingdon facility uses a closed-loop wastewater system that not only recycles water used in our plating processes but ensures that we have minimal impact on the local ecosystem.

our commitment to the chesapeake bayOur local ecosystem stretches all the way south to Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay.

A Committed Environmental Partner

We are continuously looking to improve our processes, wastewater treatment, and transportation practices to improve our efficiency and minimize our impact on the environment. We work hand-in-hand with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure our operation adheres to local regulations and industry best practices.
